"…that their hearts may be encouraged as they are brought together in love, to have all the richness of fully assured understanding, for the knowledge of the mystery of God, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” - Col 2, 2-3
At St Peter Parish, our Confirmation program is designed to strengthen each candidate’s unique gifts as they grow closer to Jesus, stronger in their knowledge of our Catholic faith, and put purpose to their innate discipleship through intellectual, emotional and spiritual connectivity using the power of the Holy Spirit as our guide.
Confirmation Prep registration will open September 1st.
Confirmation is more than just a special event or Mass. It is the final stage in Catholic initiation, a fulfillment of our Baptism – the beginning of our life in Christ. It leaves a personal, powerful, and eternal mark upon one’s soul which seals them as children of God. It does not end one’s catechesis. Rather, Confirmation begins a new stage of your faith journey – one of personal accountability and discipleship/serving the mission of the Church.
In Baptism, a person is given to God. In Confirmation, we begin His work….. Are you ready?
YEAR ONE: (Gr 6+) This year is spent refreshing/re-purposing their faith formation (Focus: Prayer, Creed, Sacraments, and Morality). The class pace is set by the students and its tone is conversational. Our goal is to empower their own curiosity. There will be two day retreats to build fellowship and allow students to see faith in action.
YEAR TWO: (Gr 7+) Most of these students will have completed YEAR ONE together the previous school term. [Note: If a sophomore+ passes ‘the basics’ – they may move directly into this class.] Building upon the 4 Pillars/year one, students will further discuss topics related to Catechism of Catholic Church – questions are encouraged and grace is welcome. Building a relationship with Christ takes time and trust – knowing the language of the Church (prayer), sharing its Good News/our faith’s power in each other’s lives is key to recognizing the gifts of Holy Spirit at work in each one of our lives and in the life of others. Our goal is that the students find their place in our community of faith and that each are excited to be confirmed to reflect God’s goodness/mission out into the world. *One weekend retreat and one day retreat is required.
We thank God for choosing these wonderful young people to be His words of comfort, hands of service, and witnesses of faith. We pray He strengthens them to know the Holy Spirit and to be open that they may be fortified in His to live faithfully.
Class of 2023
These videos both speak to the power of this spiritually nourishing sacrament. As this is the final sacrament of initiation of the Church, we ask that you prayerfully consider that you are ready….talk to those you love about it & your pastor or youth minister too. Let us know how we can support you in this empowering set along your journey of faith.
